After updating to Windows 7 it was not possible to start VMware vSphere Client.
first error: error parsing the server “<server name” “clients.xml” file.
followed by: The type initializer for ‘VirtualInfrastructure.Utils.HttpWebRequestProxy’ threw an exception.
As long as there is no updated Version for vSphere Client, following fix helped me a lot

The only trap i run into was, that the article is written for 64bit Windows 7, actually if reading the whole article and not just doing step by step instructions on the fly you will recognize it’s mentioned at the beginning – for 32bit Windows 7 the variable value for DEVPATH is
C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Launcher\Lib

Since I have to fix some problems with addressbook sync for Blackberry my mind was circling around the possibility to generate log entries for some contacts that didn’t sync, while most do, and the possible cause, without reactivating the device.
Luckily i stumbeld upon a tweet from @bbgeek (via @filos) that might be of great help with this.

Didn’t knew that it’s possible to reset addressbook with going into addressbook options typing RSET.
Addressbook is erased on the device and entries are synced again from BES. It works quite similar with calendar.
There are many other shortcuts I didn’t new before. Might not be interesting for casual users, but definitly opens many possibilities for troubleshooting.

This morning our surface unit arrived at the office. It was only delivered to the front of the door so we had to carry it a bit. It has quite some weight but it’s now up and running.
