libGLES_CM.dll (I placed it as a “Content” file inside the project)

The funny thing is the error varies from one deployment to another, top error messages are:

“An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.”

“Connection has been closed gracefully”

“Connection forcibly closed by remote host”

No search brought a solution to this bug, till after some “testing” (I used my DPD = drinking/programming/drinking method again ).
If you switch from “Copy if newer” to “Copy always” the errors are gone.

This is fine,… but if the app crashes or you forget to implement the  ”ShowTasbar” function your TaskBar is gone (till the next cold reset). So I searched and found the following “lightweight” way to “hide” the TaskBar.

There is also ways without the GDI Functions but those are a little more complicated.

Today when browsing Platform Builder I found the reason:

Gradient Fill Support is an extra Option that needs to be ticked.

Finally there is Windows Mobile 6.5 SDK ready for download!  You can get it from here: Windows Mobile 6.5 SDK
There are Downloads for the following languages:

1. CLR Logging aktivieren. Folgenden Wert auf 1 setzen:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework\Diagnostics\Logging\Enabled

2.Loader Log aktivieren. Folgenden Wert auf 1 setzen:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework\Diagnostics\Logging\Loader\Enabled

Im Prinzip reicht da schon aus. Das Logfile wird im Verzeichnis der Anwendung erstellt und heißt netcf_loader.log.
Empfehlenswert sind noch folgende zusätzlichen Einstellungen:

3.Anwendungsnamen im Logfile Namen (z.B.: netcf_myApp_loader.log. Nützlich wenn mehrere Anwendungen im gleichen Verzeichnis sind. Folgenden Wert auf 1 setzen:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework\Diagnostics\Logging\UseApp

4.Prozess Id im Logfile Namen. Folgenden Wert auf 1 setzen:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework\Diagnostics\Logging\UsePid

5. Log immer sofort schreiben. Nützlich wenn die Anwendung abstürtzt. Achtung, wirkt sich negativ auf die Performance aus. Folgenden Wert auf 1 setzen:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework\Diagnostics\Logging\Flush

Falls die genannten Registry Einträge noch nicht exisitieren, kann man diese einfach erstellen. Alle Werte sind vom Typ DWORD.

• Microsoft zeigt beim Windows Mobile Line of Business Solution Accelerator 2008 das Gradient Fill auch auf Smartphones funktioniert. (Siehe GradientButton.cs)

Natürlich hat das alles nicht unbedingt einen positiven Effekt auf die Performance – aber coole Applikationen bringen mehr Geld

ERPsen counter

Since some time now, we have a lot of fun programming CF, as you may know from “Spin the bottle” (we currently testing version 1.7, an update will come soon).
So we decided to write a new game/trainingsprogram,.. the “ERPsen Counter” (BEAN Counter, in german the BEANS are PEAS).
For all you wannabe “Bean Counters” out there, this is the perfect game for you, as well as for those of you who want to perfect your current bean counting abilities.

ERPsen Counter (for WM 5 and 6)

Grundsätzlich gibt es dazu 2 klassische Wege:

• Über das Excel Object Model und Interop
• Über eine ASPX Seite mit dem richtigen  Content Type

Beide Wege haben Nachteile die man mit der dritten Variante in den Griff bekommen kann- Excel Dateien mit einer 3rd Party Komponente zu schreiben. Der Aufwand den man betreiben muss ist aber sicherlich mit der ASPX Variante am geringsten.

TMS Software hat eine Komponente im Angebot die sogar auf dem Compact Framework funktioniert!

Neuerungen in CF 3.5:

• Linq
• WCF Unterstützung

Dann gibt es einen großen Teil von Features die nichts mit dem Compactframework, sondern nur mit dem Compiler zu tun haben und den damit verbundenen Sprachfeatures vonC# 3.0 (var, [], Extension Mehtods, …). Diese können auch mit CF 2.0 verwendet werden wenn man Visual Studio 2008 als Compiler verwendet.

Am spannendsten von allen Änderungen finde ich  das einiges getan wurde um Memory Leaks in CF Applikation zu verhindern:

• bei Bitmaps/Images
• Und bei allem was im WIndows.Forms Namespace liegt (Unbedingt lesen bis zum ende: http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3999008&SiteID=1)

Der größte Nachteil beim CF 3.5 ist das man es auf den meisten Geräten extra Installieren muss!
